Onion Soup Toasts

I once had a friend who always told us she had an allergy to butter , then one day we were doing a road trip to Taupo and she tried one of Mum’s famous onion soup toasts, next minute she had eaten the lot and not a hint of an allergic reaction to be seen , seriously addictive, be warned  Recipe by Lynne Perkins

Ingredients


  • 250g butter
  • 1 packet of onion soup
  • 1 loaf of toast or sandwich  bread

Method


  1.  Preheat oven to 180 degrees, fan bake.
  2. Line a baking tray with baking paper
  3. Using a bread knife (or electric if you have one), cut the bread into 1 to 2cm slices, cutting off the crusts first. Place on the oven tray.
  4. Mix together the butter and onion soup, and spread onto the bread.
  5. Bake in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes watching carefully.
  6. Turn oven off, leave door open to let them dry out until cool.
